There were some mixed results last Saturday with two out of the five teams recording wins. The day kicked off with the Under 9s taking on Waverley out at Monash. The team performed strongly in what was, for most of the team, their second game of hockey ever. The finally tally was 2-0 in Waverley’s favour, but the prospects are improving for our newest team. The women were next with a solid victory over Hawthorn, winning 5-2. There was some good performances around the ground, including 2 goals from Leah Arnold. The State League boys had an unfortunate result against the Vic Sikhs (we won’t mention the score), struggling to compete with the opposition’s unique playing structure. Metro 2 also went down 4-2 to Waverley, but finishing the day on a positive, the Metro 4 guys had a 4-1 win over a skillful Old Carey side. Dunc Hare slotted 2 goals. Round 4 sees the State League boys fighting it out on THURSDAY NIGHT, 8.30pm at the state hockey centre, against Maccabi. On Saturday, Metro 2 men play at 2pm at Monash and the women are on at 6.30pm at Mentone. Match times for the Under 9s and Metro 4 are still a surprise (keep in touch with your team managers!).
